Business
Development and Expansion
UNO provides a variety of resources and services to assist the development
and growth of business and technology interests in the region.
Below are just a few of these resources and services.
Our
partnership with the U. S. Small Business Administration and the
Louisiana Department of Economic Development provides counseling and
training to start-up and on-going business through the University
of New Orleans Small Business Development Center. The center is the
area administrator of the FastTrac Entrepreneurial Training Program.
Training for traditional and
non-traditional students in the skills required for starting and
operating a small business. Programs
promote self-employment as a carrier option, and it includes outreach to
high school students and the disabled.
Our program won national recognition when its director was
awarded the U.S. Small Business Administration Vision 2000 Models of
Excellence Award.
The
University of New Orleans' Louisiana
International Trade Center is a partnership program with the U.S.
Small Business Administration and the Louisiana Department of Economic
Development to train and counsel individuals and companies interested in
international business.
UNO provides a wide range of
research-related services, as well as economic analysis, forecasts, and
research studies. University faculty and staff can provide
counseling and consulting services to inventors with the management and
commercialization of their intellectual property and assist to
facilitate the patent or copyright process and licensing to the private
sector.
